Libre office The real alternative to Office.
If you are looking for an alternative to Microsoft Office, LibreOffice is definitely what you need, the efforts of the developers made over the years has allowed this fantastic platform to be mature enough and to be able to completely replace Microsoft's office suite.
But why replace Office?
Perhaps not everyone is aware of the fact that every document, every presentation, everything produced with Microsoft office tools is not private. I attach the video of Naomi Brockwell:
This is why we should start using products that cannot be inspected or traced, one of these products is certainly the office suite that is installed on all private PCs but also and especially on those used by public administrations.
This represents a major security flaw in terms of protecting user data but above all in terms of privacy on highly confidential documents of state administrations.
After this introduction and after watching Naomi's video, let's see what the features of LibreOffice are:
1. Use of free formats such as ODF and backward compatibility with Microsoft proprietary formats
This means that we can save our files without necessarily using proprietary formats but we can also read Office's proprietary formats (Office, on the other hand, has no backward compatibility with open formats and forces you to use its own.)
2. LibreOffice also has a complete suite of programs for Word Processing (Write), Spreadsheets (Calc), Presentations (Impress), Drawing (Draw), Database (Base) and also has a program for mathematical calculations (Math).
3. LibreOffice guarantees the privacy of the content of files created with the tools provided.
Unlike Office, with LibreOffice we have the guarantee that our files are private and not accessible to everyone, for example, think of competing companies to which the content of the files can be sold through Office.
4. Interface virtually identical to Office
To ensure as little shock as possible to users who decide to switch to LibreOffice, the interface is practically identical to that of older versions of Office and in the latest versions the possibility of tabbed viewing as in Office has been implemented.
5. Being Open Source, anyone who has the skills and wants to implement something can collaborate with the team or develop a modified version of LibreOffice.
This possibility obviously only concerns open source software, not proprietary ones like Office.
6. Free software
The fact that LibreOffice is free represents a saving both for companies that decide to use it (avoiding the payment of licenses to Microsoft), and for public administrations by saving public money that can be used for other more important purposes.

Conclusions, my experience
After years of use I can certainly say that Libre Office is like other Open Source software a complete tool and has nothing to envy to Office, indeed its countless advantages in terms of free, reliability, compatibility make it the smartest choice rather than literally throwing money into a suite that can be replaced (especially in the Public sector as happens in other countries such as Germany) with a complete, safe and functional software.
